Joel Arcanjo

Joel Arcanjo is the author of the crime thrillers The Seventeen and The Number 8 (Carina UK), a keen poet and, most notably (to him, at least), was an extra in the popular Brazilian telenovela Terra Nostra as a child. Spending his earliest years in Portugal, he learned English by reading children’s writers like Roald Dahl, Dr. Seuss and J.K. Rowling, and so unsurprisingly chose a secondary school that bore a striking resemblance to Hogwarts, from the uniform to the old train station. He wrote his first novel while at university studying Criminology and Psychology, but his passion for children’s literature now has him creating worlds and characters for Middle Grade and Young Adult readers. When he’s not writing at home in London, he’s exploring the picturesque Devonshire coastline where his family live or traveling to far flung places in search of new and exciting stories to tell.
